CALL FOR NOMINATIONS Term: January 1997- December 1998 TECHNICAL COMMITTEE ON OPERATING SYSTEMS AND APPLICATION ENVIRONMENTS (TCOS) The Technical Committee on Operating Systems and Application Environments (TCOS) is the point of contact within the IEEE Computer Society for research and development in these areas. It publishes a quarterly bulletin with announcements and articles, usually "special issues" of material on a specific topic of interest to the membership. It organizes and/or sponsors several workshops and conferences in the field, particularly the Workshop on Hot Topics in Operating Systems (formerly WWOS). TCOS is holding an election for Chair of the committee. The previous Chair, Darrell Long, completed his term in June 1996. Fred Douglis is serving as interim Chair through December 1996. In preparation for the election, TCOS is conducting a call for nominations for the position. After nominations are received, a ballot will be sent to all TCOS members to vote for the next TC chair, based on the slate of candidates. All nominations should include a brief biography and position statement (not to exceed one page) for possible inclusion with the election ballot. Please list those colleagues who you wish to nominate to run for the position of TC Chair. (Those running for TC Chair must be current members of the Computer Society.)
